ELTE Begins the New Academic Year with a Record Number of New Students
Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) has begun its 392nd academic year with a record number of newly admitted students. According to the university, a total of 14,531 students were admitted through the 2026 general and supplementary admission processes, around 5% more than the previous year’s record. The new academic year brings together students across a wide range of academic, research and community activities. ELTE also emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for professional development, independent thinking and active participation in university life. The start of the new academic year reflects the continued importance of Budapest as a major European university city and an international destination for higher education.
